On Sunday, December 2nd we celebrate the first Sunday in Advent! This is the 4-week period leading up to Christmas–the birth of Christ.
We will light the first candle of Advent, the candle of hope.
The bright, welcoming nursery and full Sunday School (preschool to high school) will be open.
And in the service we’ll sing, praise, pray, learn and centre ourselves in the Lord through scripture.
We will also celebrate the Sacrament of Communion (sometimes called The Lord’s Supper).
During the service there will also be a special financial appeal for the Deacon’s Fund. This is something we do every time we celebrate Communion. It’s a fund that we build up to help those struggling financially both inside and outside the congregation.
Plus, if you missed picking up a gift item from our ‘Giving Tree’ at the front of the sanctuary as a part of our project to sponsor a local family of six and two youths in need for Christmas, you can do so on this day.
Our pastor will teach about a much-neglected (and even unpopular) aspect of Advent and Christmas. But it’s something that is essential if we want to go deeper and more authentic with our faith.
Join in. You’ll be glad you did. Advent begins!
