On May 6th at 10:01am we’ll gather together to joyfully sing, pray and marvel at God’s power and goodness.
The nursery will be open, and so will the Sunday School.
In the service, our pastor will continue with Part 2 in a mini-series called “Common Bond: The collapse of community in a consumer world, and the call of community in Christ’s.” Have you ever noticed how connecting with others is getting more difficult, and how communities are less close-knit, how fewer people know their neighbours, and how more people are lonely even though they’re surrounded by thousands of people? Yup, it’s a huge cultural shift… and problem. So on we’ll explore why that is, and also the kind of community Christ calls us to be as his followers.
The emphasis on May 6th will be on creating authentic community which is distinctly Christian in nature. A part of the reason why the power of community can be undermined in our highly individualistic culture (including in churches) is because we haven’t paid close enough attention to what community and fellowship looks like in the New Testament. So that’s what we’ll explore.[To see a short 1-minute video from the pastor with a few of his thoughts about the series click here.]
We’ll also have a coffee and sugar drive for the David Busby Street Centre, and introduce May’s Orange Idea during the kids’ time.
Plus, we’ll have another Ministry Fair after the service. There will be different displays and tables set up in the Fellowship Hall so people can learn more about the different things happening in the church, and also find out about how to plug in and connect.
Let’s honour God together! You’ll be glad you did.
