On Sunday, November 25 we gather at 10:01am to worship the Living God! (Here is our location via Google Maps.)
Our friendly, bright nursery will be open. And our fully Sunday School (pre-school to high school) will be in operation. There will be a rehearsal for this year’s Christmas Pageant! (There are many different role opportunities for children of different ages.)
We we will sing songs of praise, pray together, learn from the Bible, and encourage one another.
Plus, our pastor will continue our new teaching series. Here’s a description.
Before the world of contracts and fine print, do you remember hearing about agreements (even big ones) that were made on shake of a hand? Remember when someone could be trusted “at their word”? There is something powerful about someone who can be trusted to do what they say they’re going to do. Even if you disagree with them, you appreciate the integrity they show when they deliver on a promise. Why is that?
First, it’s just plain honest. And we like that.
But second, it may be because we live in an age of verbal mistrust. ‘Talk is cheap,’ some people say. Why? Because so many people break promises. Friends, family members, governments… The list seems to go on and on. It’s hard to know what to believe when people say one thing but do another. That’s why, when someone keeps their word, it is a powerful and inspiring thing.
On November 18 and 25 at Westminster we’re having a 2-part teaching series called “My Word – How to be a person of your word in a world of verbal mistrust.” Pastor Ruttan will open the Bible and explore what it teaches us about verbal integrity. On November 25th the focus will be on the very powerful and positive impact we have in the lives of the people we care about when we do so.[If you missed part 1, click here to listen.]
Lastly, we’re going to be introducing our project to sponsor a local family of four, and also two youths, for Christmas as a part of a sponsorship through Simcoe-Muskoka Family Connections (formerly the Children’s Aid Society)! There will be an insert in the bulletin that will explain the project and process. What an amazing way to be a real and practical help at this time of year!
On Sunday, let’s be a part of something bigger together.
