Welcome to our new Coordinator of Congregational Life!

God is on the move at Westminster! Not only has there been spiritual growth but there has been numerical growth too.

In January 2018 the elders struck a committee to consider a variety of ideas, including the possibility of additional staff. The elders moved ahead with a recommendation for a new part-time staff position called a ‘Coordinator of Congregational Life.’ This was approved by the congregation in July, and a search process began.

Nine people applied for the position. After prayerfully working through the resumes and conducting some interviews, the interview committee (Steve Sainsbury, Beth Hickey, Rev. Ruttan) recommended Kim Sanderson to the elders. This past week, they gladly approved this choice.

Kim has a deep Christian faith and has been a part of our Westminster family for several years (including time as a child in the Sunday School). A few of the ways she had volunteered at Westminster is for the small groups program, Vacation Bible Camps, golf tournament, and on the Stewardship Team. Kim has excellent people and communication skills. She has worked as a financial advisor and in managerial roles, and has volunteered in the wider community for groups like the United Way and Kiwanis, and was even awarded Volunteer of the Year for the Province of Ontario in 1999. Kim will be an excellent and welcome part of our team!

The three main areas of Kim’s work (although there are more), will be overseeing the small groups program, coordinating and equipping the growing number of volunteers for several areas within the church, and managing many aspects of the church’s online presence and communications.

Kim will begin her role on November 1, 2018. We look forward to commissioning her into her role on Sunday, November 4th.

Let’s join together in congratulating Kim Sanderson.

God is good!
