This week we continued our journey through the Gospel of Luke. The message was based on Luke 6:17 – 36 which speaks to the “blessings and woes” and a love that is counter-cultural.

Pastor Ruttan worked through the passage sharing thoughts around what society may think of as blessings (wealth, importance) and what are biblical blessings. Then he moved into woe – and how our drive for independence and self-reliance may not serve us well in the end. Finally, he detailed three significant learnings; 1. Being God reliant – not self-reliant. 2. We are called to a high ethical standard & 3. Jesus does for you what you cannot do for yourself.

“My precious child,
I love you and would never leave you.
The times when you have seen only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.”
