Jr Youth Group resumes

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Along with a new  year comes the winter session of junior youth group! Our Junior Youth Group is coordinated by our Youth Coordinator, Julie Cunha. It runs from January 17 to March 28. We meet on Thursday evenings (usually at the church) from 7 to 8:30pm. During this winter session we are focusing on understanding some of the major biblical themes in the bible and how they connect to our daily lives. Some evenings are 'content driven' and always include a game component and snack. Some evenings also have a purely fun and fellowship focus where we get to know each other better and have some laughs while engaging in activities like laser tag or at Jack's Urban Jungle. Some nights we also have a service focus as we connect our beliefs to our actions and help out in the community. If you have any questions please speak with Julie!

Sunday Service – January 20

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

(Here is our location via Google Maps.) You’re invited to join us on Sunday, January 20 at 10:01 am as we worship our amazing God! We will sing songs to God, pray, learn, and encourage one another through the journey of life. There will be nursery care, and our full Sunday School will be in operation — pre-school to high school. Recently, our pastor started a new 5-part Sunday teaching series called “Heaven & Hell – What does the Bible teach about what is true? (Instead of what we want to be true.)” On January 20th we’ll continue this important series. (If you want to see a short YouTube video introduction to the series, or catch up on Parts 1 and 2, click here.) The topic will be a difficult but important one: Hell. Let’s worship and be a part of something bigger together! https://youtu.be/Ic7mmwLc1sc

Camp Sponsorship Application

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Westminster Church in Barrie has created a fund to help young people attend church-sponsored summer camps. All of the financial offerings that were received during our two Christmas Eve services were given toward this fund. Examples of these camps are Camp Cairn in Muskoka which include Glen Mhor, Iona, and Presbyterian Music Camp. There are others, but these are good examples. They offer weekly camps throughout the summer. Their schedules and more information can be accessed at www.ILoveCamp.org Click here to read a pdf copy of the application: Summer Camp Sponsorship Application - 2019 01 They can also be picked up in person at the church from Tuesday to Friday, 9am to noon. The deadline is Sunday, February 24th. (Please note, however, that the 'early bird' deadline for $40 off each camp session at Cairn is February 1st, so you may want to apply early.) Applications will be treated confidentially, and questions can be directed to our treasurer, Mary Colvin.

Confirmation Classes

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Confirmation is an opportunity for many of our young people to discuss the meaning of Jesus, participate in some faith-based activities, and see whether they want to make the faith their own—i.e. so that their faith isn't just something a parent believes in, but that they believe in. If a child has already been baptized, this would mean they are confirming their faith. If a child hasn't yet been baptized, this would be the time for that to happen as they publicly profess their faith in Jesus Christ. It is also the moment when a young person becomes a full “professing member” of the congregation. These gatherings will take place on Sept 21 (7pm), Sept 28 (7pm) and Oct 5(7pm). They will be led by Pastor Ruttan.  To RSVP or to ask questions email matthew@westminsterpc.ca or call the church office at 705-728-0541.
