Westminster Loving God & Neighbour

On Sunday, January 10 at 10:01am EST we sing, we pray, and we exalt king Jesus! Pastor Ruttan will begin a new journey, taking us through Luke's Gospel. He will also introduce a catechism which Westminster will use through 2021.  You can find sermon notes here. It's a tough time in our lives, isn't it? But on Sunday at 10:01am we worship online at the feet of our God who sustains and strengthens us! We sing, pray, hear a new faith-at-home focus, learn catechism question #2, and learn about two new initiatives you can contribute to. Sunday is the Lord's Day! So at 10:01am EST we worship online as his people of gratitude and hope. We continue with Luke 5:1-11, sing together, bow our hearts in prayer, hear the first "Can I get a withness?" entry, and generally be encouraged in Christ. For the past 5 years the youth groups at Westminster have encouraged the congregation to support, learn more and share about the Coldest Night of the Year Walk for Youth Haven. Youth Haven is the Shelter and Services that provide a safe living space, safe schooling and transitional support to youths ages 16 - 24 across Simcoe Muskoka. This year the walk is being held virtually so families can walk together on a night of their choosing though we recommend Saturday February 20th.  Although this is a virtual walk Julie Cunha would love to host a ZOOM kick off on Saturday February 20th at 4:00 p.m. for all who are planning to walk! In February 2021 we join Fight4Freedom and their FabFeb campaign, raising awareness and funds in the battle against human trafficking (modern slavery). Everyone is created in God's image. Our team is called ‘Westminster Church.’ You are invited to become a team member, or learn more, or donate (our goal is $500), or wear red boldly. Join the Westminster Church team here. We can participate by wearing red ribbons, bold lipstick or bowties and posting a bold-fabulous-you on social media to raise funds and awareness. Being bold gives us an opportunity to share about the very real problem of human trafficking and invite others to join us in advocating with Fight4Freedom to end trafficking together.

This Sunday, February 7th, we gather at 10:01am (online, EST), to honour our powerful, loving and forgiving God! We pray, we sing (including a new favourite hymn submission), are blessed with a new "Can I get a Withness" entry, and continue through Luke's Gospel with a look at Luke 7:36-50. Plus, we will have a new faith-at-home memorization focus. It's a tough time in life -- but we will live and worship knowing and trusting that God is good through it all! Sunday is the Lord's Day! It's also Valentine's Day. So let's praise the God of love with music, prayer, and by feasting on his Word. Previously, Pastor Ruttan had mentioned that we would have our first "Kahoot" during the service and also officially acknowledge Julie Cunha's expanded role during the service. However, he has put his back out and can barely get out of bed! So we will delay that until Feb. 21. Leading the service will be Julie Cunha along with Jenn Harris! We will enjoy a new favourite hymn submission, a "Can I Get A Withness?", and learn a new faith-at-home prayer activity. The message will be focused on the story of the Good Samaritan. Worshiping God is what Jesus wants and what we love to do! We do so on Sunday, February 21 at 10:01am EST via YouTube. We will sing, pray, and continue our journey through the Gospel of Luke. Isn't it great to hear about people's favourite hymns and sing them? And isn't it encouraging to hear each other talk about faith in the Can I Get A Withness segment? We'll continue with those, enjoy a new faith-at-home focus, and recognize Julie Cunha's new expanded role. Plus, we'll have our first Kahoot! (Just download the app). We are in the season of Lent, and on Sunday we honour our Creator and Saviour who makes all things new! Join in at 10:01am EST online. We lift our voices, bow in prayer, and centre our hearts and minds on God's word. We apologize for the technical difficulties during last Sunday's service. We think it's been resolved. We return to worship this Sunday, March 7th at 10:01am EST. However, it will be different. In fact, a new first. The service will be recorded in different parts of the building. In fact, we're pretty sure that you'll see places you haven't even been before. Through it all we will praise the Lord, learn from his word, sing and pray, celebrate Communion (bring your bread and wine or juice) and have some fun too.
