Sunday Service – Oct. 8, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Sunday, October 8th is Thanksgiving Sunday! The Communion table will have the fruit of the season, and we will gather to sing, pray and learn as Jesus’ people. We will also hold a drive for the Barrie Food Bank. If able, please contribute! Pastor Ruttan will return to the current teaching series, “The beginning is nigh.” The text will be 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12, and the focus will be on what we're for, not just what we're against as Jesus' people. There will be dedicated teachers to provide Sunday School and faithful helpers in the nursery. We will have treats, drinks and fellowship after the service.

Sunday Service – Oct. 22, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

This Sunday we welcome Teen Challenge! They operate drug addiction rehabilitation programs, for adults 18+, with centres located in Alberta, Atlantic Canada, Saskatchewan and Ontario. They offer help and hope to those struggling with alcoholism and/or addiction to other drugs. Those in addiction, their family and friends, begin their restoration at Teen Challenge. The service, therefore, will look a bit different. It will mostly consist of songs and testimonies from individuals who have been positively impacted by the program. We will have Sunday School and nursery care. And remember that we will have the special Soup and a Bun and Grilled Cheese lunch after the service! SPECIAL NOTE: Please note that it will be in-person only this Sunday. The live-stream will return on October 29th. A computer needs to be replaced and some software needs to be updated.

Sunday Service – Nov.12, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On November 12th we gather at 10:01am to worship our God of majesty, love, hope and holiness. Pastor Ruttan will lead our service, but has asked Jeff Walther to share the sermon (since Pastor Ruttan was away most of the week). The theme is "whatever." When we hear that word we can think of a dismissive 'who cares' attitude. But Paul uses it in several times in Philippians 4 to direct our attention to good and godly things. We should think about "whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely..." It is a message meant to encourage us to fill our minds with good things, which is especially important when there is so much negativity around us. We will sing praises to God, pray together, and build each other up. We will have Sunday School and nursery care, provided by caring brothers and sisters in Christ. After the service, Pastor Ruttan will be available to pray with you at the front of the sanctuary if you would like.
