SUNDAY SERVICE – JULY 14th

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On Sunday, July 14th we will joyfully gather together to worship our incredible God! Our service will be very music focused. It will have the feel of a “hymn sing” where we sing hymns and praise songs that have had a particular influence over the years. There will be no sermon, but Pastor Ruttan will share some of the background to these musical pieces as well as scriptural insights into what makes them great from a gospel perspective. During the kids’ time we will also have a review of our recent Vacation Bible Camp! There will be nursery and Sunday School (from preschool to high school). Let’s honour God together.

SUNDAY SERVICE – JULY 21st

You’re invited to join us on Sunday, July 21st at 10:01 am as we worship God as his people together. Do you ever wonder about the Holy Spirit? Is the Holy Spirit an "it" or a "who"? What does the Holy Spirit do? If Christians are supposed to "have" the Holy Spirit, does he take shape the same way in everyone? What if you're not sure? Can you feel the Spirit? These are the kinds of questions Pastor Ruttan will explore on Sunday, July 21st and Sunday, July 28th. Bring your Bible! We will also sing together, pray together, learn together, and build one another up in faith on this beautiful summer Sunday. There will be nursery care, and there will be Sunday School from preschool to high school. And after the service, we'll have ice cream! Also, following the service, our Stitch and Chatter group will continue on with their Book Sale in Fellowship Hall. Let's worship and learn about the Holy Spirit together.  See you there!

SUNDAY SERVICE – JULY 28TH

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

This Sunday, July 28th, we will join together at 10:01 to worship our incredible God! Last week we explored insights about the Holy Spirit that apply to Christians generally. This week we'll explore insights about the Spirit which apply to Christians specifically. In other words, God has made each of us to be an original, and he has given each of us unique personalities and strengths which he uses to help us honour Jesus, talk about Jesus, and do the loving work of Jesus in our lives and world. We'll talk about the "fruit of the Spirit" (Galatians 5:13-26) and spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 11:1-11, 27-31, 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a). All Christians have the Holy Spirit living within them, and when we understand ourselves, the fruit of the Spirit, and spiritual gifts, we start to see more clearly how God wants to use us in the world. Let's worship and learn more about the Holy Spirit together.  Hope to see you there.

Have you ever been uncertain about something important and asked God for a sign? Maybe you've prayed something like this: "God, I don't know what to do or which way to go? Please give me a sign that gives me some clarity!" If you have, or if you've ever thought about it, or if you've ever wondered what the Bible says about asking for a sign, then this message will be helpful for the often uncertain journey of life. There will be nursery care and Sunday School, from pre-school to high school.  Hope you can join us!

SUNDAY SERVICE – SEPTEMBER 8TH

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On Sunday, September 8th we’re excited for our Welcome Service and BBQ! It’s the official kick-off to our 2019-2020 church year! The service starts at 10:01am.  We really hope you join in. Here’s what to expect: In the service we’ll welcome back the Adult Choir. The full Sunday School program will resume (ages pres-school to grade 12) We’ll sing, pray, and Pastor Ruttan will lead our service and deliver the message as part of a new series "Contentment: Being at peace in a culture of more more more!" It will go over four Sundays and will focus on various aspects of being content in a consumeristic culture which, through envy/greed/constant comparison, can threaten to rob of us of the peace we have in Christ. This Sunday's message is called "Spiritual Billionaire" and he'll focus on how in today's media world we can easily fall into the trap of wanting what other people have... but this neglects the fact that in Christ we are spiritual billionaires -- which is to say that by focusing on what we do have (forgiveness, eternity, fellowship with God, purpose, peace etc) we're less likely to be downcast by what we don't. & we’ll have a free BBQ after the service with an inflatable obstacle course for the kids! Start your autumn right at Westminster. You’ll be glad you did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldJcTgOL9Wk

There will be full Sunday School (preschool to high school), and we will have nursery care. During the message, Pastor Ruttan will continue with Part 2 in our new series: 'Contentment: Being at peace in a world of more more more.' This Sunday he will explore Robber #2 who loves to steal your contentment by making you continually compare yourself to others (in person or online) and by thinking too much of the judgments or opinions of others. Our main text will be 1 Corinthians 4:1-5 as we explore the biblical antidote. Let's honour God powerfully together!
