Beginning in February 2019 a Special Growth Committee was struck by Session to support the mission of this growing church in order to maintain it’s momentum and continue to invite others to  join us.  The committee then examined the role of the minister and made recommendations felt to have a positive impact on the overall mission of the church.  This new structure will allow the minister to sustain focused attention on his responsibilities as teaching elder.  At the same time, through increased elder participation, church operations will improve and be more coherent.  Responsibility of each oversight area include responsibility for activities as well as budget lines associated with that area.

WORSHIP – PASTOR RUTTAN

Oversees worship services. The pastor also provides leadership as ‘teaching elder’ for the mission, vision, strategy and direction of the congregation.

CLERK OF SESSION & PRESBYTERY REPRESENTATIVE (Oversight Elder)– CATHY CLARK

As the Clerk of Session, Cathy is responsible for establishing agendas, keeping minutes and records of session meetings. As our Presbytery Representative, Cathy also participates in the monthly meetings and work of Barrie Presbytery. She represents Westminster along with the pastor.

FINANCE, ADMINISTRATION & HUMAN RESOURCES (Oversight Elder) – TOM WALSH

Tom oversees finances along with treasurer, reporting monthly to Session. Liaises with office volunteers, drafts annual budget for elder and congregational approval.

CHURCH OPERATIONS (Oversight Elder) – AARON HARRIS

Aaron oversees the church building and grounds. Liaises with the coordinator of the Building and Maintenance Team and the coordinator of building rentals.

ONLINE ENGAGEMENT (Oversight Elder) – GUY GAGNON

Guy is responsible for coordinating the volunteers for the tech booth (beginning in May). Seeks to creatively identify and engage those who worship online from a distance or who otherwise seek to participate in the life of the congregation but who aren’t able to be physically present.

PRAYER & CARE (Oversight Elder) – MARY COLVIN

Mary oversees pastoral care in consultation with the pastor. Oversees Visitation, the Prayer Group, the Prayer Chain, the Virtual Prayer Chain, Card Ministry, and Deacon’s Fund.

GROWING OUR FAITH – YOUTH ACTIVITIES (Oversight Elder) – STEVE SAINSBURY

Steve oversees ministries directed to youth, including Youth Groups, Sunday School, nursery, intergenerational events, and camps. Liaises with the Coordinator of Youth and Outreach.

GROWING OUR FAITH – ADULT ACTIVITIES (Oversight Elder) – COLIN LEONARD

Colin oversees the general faith-formation opportunities. Ministries under this area: Thursday Bible Study, Vine Groups, Stitch and Chatter, Friday Social Club, Leading with Care.

CONGREGATIONAL LIFE (Oversight Elder) – CAROLYN TROTT

Carolyn oversees health and safety initiatives and guidelines, general fellowship opportunities (i.e. dinners), the kitchen, and other special projects.

MISSION AND OUTREACH (Oversight Elder) – JIM BEWICK

Jim oversees mission project and community outreach. Liaises with Outreach Team.
