LEARN MORE ABOUT HOW WE HELP OUR COMMUNITY
We strive to be the hands & feet of Christ both within our own church community as well as the larger city around us. We do this through a number of initiatives including monthly “Mission” focuses that collect food, clothing and other items for social service groups in our community like The David Busby Centre, Youth Haven and the Barrie Food Bank.
We also do outreach activities through community bar-b-ques, dinners and taking an active role in the Santa Claus Parade. We want to be an “active” church that involves volunteers in our church family reaching out and connecting with others.
Alive with the Holy Spirit, Westminster is a Christ-centred, family-friendly church.
The Deacon’s Fund is designed to help people who are struggling financially. At Westminster, congregants can build up the Fund on Sundays when the Sacrament of Communion is celebrated by making a financial donation. This is how monies are made available for this purpose.
For those wishing to apply, they may download a Deacon’s Fund application here: DEACON’S FUND APPLICATION
Completed applications can be brought in person to the church and handed in at the church office, or they can be emailed to: office [at] westminsterpc [dot] ca.
An Application Committee receives the forms and considers the requests based on a variety of factors, including the availability of funds.
Then the applicant is notified as to whether the request is granted or denied. If you know someone who may benefit from this Fund, please let them know!
If you would like an application sent to you, or if you have any questions, please use the feedback form at the bottom of this page.
Pastoral Care is provided through a number of channels at the church including a prayer chain ministry by email, our Prayer Group (learn more about that adult ministry here), a visiting program as well as a card ministry.
The visiting program is staffed by trained volunteers who attend homebound people in their home or institution for fellowship, prayer and comfort. Pastor Ruttan also visits homebound people twice a year for communion.
Congregants that are in the end stages of life or are dealing with the death of a loved one are also visited by Pastor Ruttan on an as needed basis.
