The Perfect Blood of the Lamb
The imagery is kind of harsh. Blood? In fact, some people try to avoid talking about it. But Good Friday is not a time for closing our eyes to the reality of sin, suffering and sacrifice.
Jesus is called the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. It’s an amazing promise. But what does it mean, who is it for, and what does blood have to do with anything?
This Good Friday sermon is based on John 1:29, but takes us through parts of Exodus 12 and the 10th plague on the Egyptians (the death of the firstborns). This background helps us understand why Jesus is called the “lamb of God” and clarifies the implications this has for us today.
If you ever feel uncertain or as if your faith is “small,” you’re going to want to listen.
