Whatever

On November 12th we gathered to worship our God of majesty, love, hope and holiness. Pastor Ruttan led our service, but had asked Jeff Walther to share the sermon (since Pastor Ruttan was away most of the week). The theme was “whatever.” When we hear that word we can think of a dismissive ‘who cares’ attitude. But Paul uses it in several times in Philippians 4 to direct our attention to good and godly things. We should think about “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely…” It is a message meant to encourage us to fill our minds with good things, which is especially important when there is so much negativity around us.
