Easter Sunday

In-person and online Easter Sunday is when we celebrate the resurrection of Christ! At 10:01am we gather to joyfully sing, pray and marvel at God’s power and goodness. There will Sunday School and nursery as usual. Pastor Ruttan welcomes the Rev. Winston Newman; together they will discuss ‘hope over the long haul.’

Sunday Service – April 16, 2023

Christ is risen! On Sunday Pastor Ruttan will teach about what happens next. Jesus appears in what had been a locked room, speaks to his disciples, shows them his nail-pierced hands and feet, and breathes out the Holy Spirit on them! A lot is happening–and we will consider it’s implications in our lives today. There will be Sunday School, nursery care, and fellowship time. The service is at 10:01am in-person and also live-streamed.

Sunday Service – April 23, 2023

On Sunday we will worship the everlasting God! We will sing, pray, and Pastor Ruttan will preach on John 21, the final chapter in our series on John’s Gospel. Peter denied Jesus three times; now he professes his love three times. Ours is a God of second chances–both then and now. During the service we will also commission our new Music Director, Nena LaMarre! There will be Sunday School, nursery care, and fellowship time. The service is at 10:01am in-person and also live-streamed.

Sunday Service – April 30, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

The Two Pathways – that’s how the book of Psalms begins, and that’s how Pastor Ruttan will begin a new series on the most famous Psalms. We begin with Psalm 1, often called the “gateway to the psalms.” It will be a journey that includes Psalm 19, 23, 91 and more. Click here for a short video introduction to the series. We will honour God through biblical teaching, prayer, music, Sunday School, nursery care, and fellowship with one another. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube.

Sunday Service – May 7, 2023

It’s the most famous of the most famous psalms. People request it at funerals and underline it in their Bibles. They memorize it and plaque it for their walls. Many non-Christians can even recite the first few lines. “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” On Sunday Pastor Ruttan will take us into this eternally comforting passage and explore what it might say to us today. If you missed it last week, click here for a short video introduction to this series on the Psalms. During the service we will honour God through biblical teaching, prayer, music, Sunday School, nursery care, and fellowship with one another. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube.

Sunday Service – May 14, 2023

On Sunday, May 14, 2023 we praise the living God and King of the universe! It is Mother’s Day. All of the ladies will receive a carnation when they come into the church. We will be blessed by a special musical piece by many of our young people, and in our prayers will will thank God for mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures, past and present. Pastor Ruttan will continue the series on the most famous Psalms. We come to Psalm 46. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear… Be still, and know that I am God” (verses 1-2, 10). It is mostly used during times of global, national or personal crises. It was also the inspiration for the hymn “A mighty fortress is our God.” Just like Psalm 23, it continues to provide words of eternal comfort and wisdom for whatever trials we face today. If you missed it previously, click here for a short video introduction to the Psalms in general. There will be Sunday School, nursery care, and fellowship with one another. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube.

Sunday Service – May 21, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On Sunday, May 21, 2023 we gather as God’s people have done for countless generations to praise him and encourage one another. Pastor Ruttan will continue the series on the most famous Psalms. We come to Psalm 51 – one of the most personal and intense. David has been confronted with his horrific sins. He humbly turns to God to seek forgiveness. It is a profound teaching about genuine repentance. “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Isn’t that a wonderful request for all of us! If you missed it previously, click here for a short video introduction to the Psalms in general. There will be Sunday School, nursery care, and fellowship with one another. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube.

Sunday Service – May 28, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On May 28, 2023 we gather on Pentecost Sunday, what is often called the birthday of the church. It was when the Holy Spirit was dramatically poured out on the disciples in Jerusalem after Jesus had physically left them. Pastor Ruttan will continue the series on the most famous Psalms. We come to Psalm 88. It is a desperate cry for help. What do you do when you feel like God has let you down? Have you ever wondered as you have dealt with your own hardship or disappointment? There will be Sunday School, nursery care, and fellowship with one another. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube.

Plant Sale by Stitch & Chatter

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Stitch and Chatter will host a plant sale after church on Sunday May 28 following the regular service. They are looking for plant donations to sell in support of mission projects. If you are starting some seeds for yourself, perhaps you could grow some extra plants for Westminster. As you are thinning out your perennial beds this spring, perhaps you could pot some to share.  If you have any to donate, please bring them into the church either on Saturday May 27 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. or on the day of the sale, May 28th, from 9:30 - 9:50 a.m. Your generosity is a blessing, thank you! We invite you to stick around after service and shop the plants that have been generously donated by our members. The sale will begin after our regular church service and run until we sell out or members are done shopping. The generosity of those who have given their time and donated for this sale are so much appreciated and all sales will go to mission projects.
