Sunday Service – June 11, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On June 11th we gather together on Anniversary Sunday to give thanks to God, sing, pray, learn and worship as the body of Christ. We will celebrate the sacrament of Communion near the start of the service (see separate announcement for the participation of children) and give thanks for 61 years at Westminster (who wants cake?). Pastor Ruttan returns from Nova Scotia and will continue with the teaching series on the most famous psalms. We arrive at Psalm 91–so beloved by many of God’s people that it is memorized, held close in times of fear or battle, and even worn in lockets. “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” We will welcome a financial offering for our Deacon’s Fund, a fund which helps those who are struggling financially both inside and outside the congregation. There will be Sunday School led by committed and caring volunteers, loving nursery care, and fellowship with one another. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube.

Sunday Service – June 18, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Psalm 90: 12 says: “Teach us to number our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom.” In other words, when we know that our time on earth is short, and that we need to use it as best as we can, this should motivate us to live with wisdom. Do you want to both make a mark and live wisely? This is what Pastor Ruttan will explore on Sunday as a part of our current teaching series on the most famous psalms. It is also Father’s Day. We will enjoy a special musical piece by some of our younger members. There will be Sunday School led by committed and caring volunteers, loving nursery care, and fellowship with one another. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube. After the service, Pastor Ruttan will provide a short update on the “Forward with the Living Christ Plan.” He will explain the updates and, on behalf of the elders, entertain any questions.

Sunday Service – June 25, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On June 25th we come together to honour God with worship! Pastor Ruttan continues the teaching series on the most famous psalms. We arrive at Psalm 103: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!” “Bless” is one of those words we use a lot. But what does it mean to “bless” God? And how does doing this on a daily basis help sculpt our perspective? We will begin the service with O Canada since this is the last Sunday before Canada Day. We will also pray for the well-being of our country. There will be Sunday School led by caring volunteers, attentive nursery care, and fellowship with one another. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube. After the service, Pastor Ruttan will host the quarterly Q and A Forum. He will respond to previously submitted questions about why we have to live through life on earth before heaven, and various theories about the end times.

Sunday Service, July 23, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On Sunday, July 23rd we gather to praise our wise and holy God. We will worship and have Sunday School and nursery care. Pastor Ruttan will share the first of two messages on the Most Famous Proverbs. In a world that likes being “to the point” the proverbs are just that: short sayings for living wisely daily. Many could fit on a bumper sticker or in a Twitter post: -“Pride goes before destruction…” -“Iron sharpens iron…” -“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” -“A joyful heart is good medicine…” -“Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind…” -“Walk with the wise and become wise…” But how do we interpret and apply them? This is what we’ll explore over the next two Sundays as we seek to live wisely daily. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube.
