Sunday Service – July 30, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

Summer is glorious! On Sunday, July 30th we gather to praise the Maker of heaven and earth. We will worship and have Sunday School and nursery care. Pastor Ruttan will share the second of two messages on the Most Famous Proverbs. In a world that likes being “to the point” the proverbs are just that: short sayings for living wisely daily. Many could fit on a bumper sticker or in a Twitter post: -“Pride goes before destruction…” -“Iron sharpens iron…” -“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” -“A joyful heart is good medicine…” -“Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind…” -“Walk with the wise and become wise…” But how do we interpret and apply them? This is what we’ll explore as we seek to live wisely daily. He will also bring examples of helpful ‘Study Bibles’ so you can see what it might like to be have one of these resources in your home. The service begins at 10:01am both in person and online via YouTube.

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

This Sunday, as Pastor Ruttan begins his first week of vacation, special guest Jeff Walther will lead our service and share a message inspired by Romans 8:35-39. Some ask “What is Love?”  Some answer “Love is Love”.  God has a much more definitive answer.  He has even written a book about it. Jeff, wife Jan and members of their family worship and serve at Westminster.  It has been his “retirement calling” that Jeff serves as service leader and speaker to supply pulpit relief at a number of Simcoe County churches. There will be worship, singing, fellowship, Sunday school and nursery care. The service will be livestreamed to our Youtube channel and begins at 10:01 a.m.

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

This Sunday, as Pastor Ruttan is away on vacation, special guest Claude Cox will lead our service and share a message inspired by Psalm 85:10. “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” A bit about Claude…he has been chaplain for many years at Grove Park Home for Senior Citizens and adjunct faculty at McMaster Divinity College—Old Testament and Hebrew, for almost as long. Elaine has been a nurse in the ICU for a bit longer than my many years; our grown children are Michael, Jason and Laura. There will be worship, singing, fellowship, Sunday school and nursery care. The service will be livestreamed to our Youtube channel and begins at 10:01 a.m.

Sunday Service – August 27, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

This Sunday, as Pastor Ruttan enjoys his last week of vacation, special guest Cathy Clark will lead our service and share a message inspired by Ecclesiastes 11:1 ‘Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.’ and Luke 6:38, ‘give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” The main take-away of this message will be…’Never let an opportunity to offer a blessing or to be a blessing go by - for blessings are like boomerangs.’ A bit about Cathy…Cathy grew up right here at WPC, attending her first service at the age of two. A few years have passed since then and she has now been an ordained and serving Elder since 2016. Although she is currently Session's representative Elder at the Presbytery of Barrie, for many years she served as the Pastoral Care Coordinator. Since completing her Master of Divinity degree at Tyndale Seminary, Cathy has been blessed to offer her ministry of pulpit supply in several churches across the Presbytery. Recently retired, Cathy is enjoying the chance to travel and get her gardens into shape. Cathy is married to Gord and together they have 4 children and three grandchildren. In her spare time, she and Gord love to travel, she sings in two choirs and plays alto sax in a community concert band. On Sunday, there will be worship, singing, fellowship, Sunday school and nursery care. The service will be livestreamed to our Youtube channel and begins at 10:01 a.m.

Sunday Service – Sept.3, 2023

Westminster 170 Steel Street, Barrie, Ontario, Canada

On Sunday Pastor Ruttan returns to lead worship after his summer vacation. On September 10th he will begin a new series on 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. But before that begins he will teach on one of the shortest (and most beautiful) Psalms–131. There we are encouraged to calm and quiet our souls. In a world of noise, how do we do it? Even when we’re in a quiet setting, our minds can continue to buzz with activity. Psalm 131 helps us forward as we plan for autumn. There will be Sunday School, nursery care, coffee time and fellowship. The service is at 10:01am and will be in-person and live on YouTube.
