Help! - Faith-at-Home Focus, week of Apr 10, 2022

We continue to offer weekly faith-at-home focus ideas. The second Sunday of the month is a prayer activity.

This month it is simply called “Help!” and is inspired by the cartoon version of “The Pilgrim’s Progress,” produced by Revelation Media.

In a scene near the start of the movie, Christian and Pliable fall into the swamp of despondency. Pliable makes his way out and leaves. When Christian realizes he can’t get out of the muck on his own he cries out for help. That is when “Help” himself shows up and lifts him to safety. After a brief talk, Help offers this advice as Christian continues on his journey toward the Celestial City: “Help, in some form or another, is never far away.”

And so, this prayer activity is both very simple and very meaningful. Whenever you need help, just say that one word prayer: Help! Perhaps it’s when you feel unsafe on the road, or when you’re sick, or struggling with a question on a math test, or feeling frustrated, or worrying in the middle of the night… Call out to God for help.

“Help, in some form or another, is never far away.”
