At the end of the Lord of the Rings trilogy Frodo asks, “Is everything sad going to come untrue?” Because of the resurrection of Christ, the answer is Yes!

The resurrection was about one person, Jesus. But it was also about more than one person: everyone who follows him. This is hope-saturated good news for us today.

John’s Gospel is written in a way to communicate to us that Jesus is the new and second Adam. God is fashioning a renewed world and creation. Jesus’ resurrection is a foretaste of the glory of what’s to come.

This Easter morning sermon looks at John 20:1-18, Jesus as the second Adam, and four incredible things believers can expect to experience in God’s new creation. The nails failed, and we are summoned forward toward a new day in the footsteps of the One who is laughing loudly in the face of death.
