I Choose Us
This was the fifth Sunday in Lent. Lent is the 40 day period (excluding Sundays) that lead up to Easter. It is a time of spiritual preparation.
We enjoyed the fifth message in our “Vote for Pedro” series with a message entitled “I Choose Us”. Rev. Patrick shared various passages that helped to illustrate that God would rather save the world with us than without us. Peter, of course, played a part.
We hear how Jesus choose this common man, Peter, to build the foundation of his church. He changed Peter’s name from Simon Peter to Peter, which literally means rock. Much like when God established his covenant with Abram, who he renamed Abraham (Genesis 17:1-8), another common man.
It is a reminder that with all the infinite power that is readily available to him – God is saying – I Choose Us.
Enjoy!
